This store, while having a good selection of brews, is not a bar and probably shouldn't be listed on this site. Apparently they have tastings on Saturdays for the local crowd, but it's not like you can come in anytime and order a pint. Some Founders Centennial IPA I bought there was a bit old, however. Caveat emptor.

Dubbed as the quintissential brew store in the Indianapolis area, we made a special trip during holiday shopping season and were sorely disappointed. The microbrew, specifically the American Pale Ale, selection was limited in comparison to another local seller (Kahn's). When we asked the salesperson about his selection or lack thereof, he became very defensive and downright rude. We WILL NOT go back to this store and have advised our friends and fellow hop heads to avoid the traffic and stick with the store that belives in selection, quality, and customer service...GO TO KAHN'S!!!!!!

The tasting bar is a great idea.
The beer selection is very unique. The variety is so large that I could spend an entire year trying each different brand.

The Hop Shop is not actually a bar or a pub but an incredible store with an amazing selection of domestic and international small batch bottled beers. They also have a great selection of wines and cheese. The reason that this establishment should be listed is that the proprietor is very knowledgeable about all the beers he sells, is willing to take time with a novice and is planning on hosting tasting events at his store.
